What you will do
- Build ESG legal and disclosure architecture across frameworks including SEC climate disclosure rules, EU CSRD, UK SDR, SECR, GRI, and SASB.
- Establish ESG data governance expectations, including source data ownership, methodology documentation, and audit trails.
- Perform substantive legal reviews of external ESG claims and disclosures to mitigate greenwashing and regulatory risks.
- Partner with Corporate Affairs, Finance, HSEQ, and Operations to create a consistent ESG disclosure narrative and operating model.
- Advise on legal risks related to energy grid impact, carbon claims, supply-chain due diligence, and responsible AI.
- Support ESG governance and Board reporting for the Audit & Risk and Nomination & Governance Committees.
Requirements
- Qualified lawyer in England & Wales or an equivalent jurisdiction.
- Significant post-qualification experience across ESG, sustainability, governance, and regulatory disclosure work.
- Deep working knowledge of ESG and sustainability regulation and reporting frameworks.
- Proven experience building governance frameworks from the ground up, including policies and controls capable of withstanding audit.
- Sector exposure to data centers, infrastructure, energy, technology, or AI infrastructure.
- Experience with ESG investor engagement or rating agencies such as MSCI, Sustainalytics, or EcoVadis.
