TL;DR

Technical Artist (Unreal Engine): Bridging the gap between art and engineering for a third-person action shooter with an accent on pipeline optimization, tool development, and asset integration. Focus on solving complex technical challenges within Unreal Engine 5 to ensure high-quality, performant in-game content.

Location: Must be based in Canada (Remote or Hybrid in Vancouver, BC).

What you will do

  • Act as a bridge between Art, Engineering, and the game engine to solve cross-disciplinary problems.
  • Support artists with asset integration, debugging, and optimization within Unreal Engine.
  • Design and maintain tools, scripts, and workflows to improve artist productivity.
  • Collaborate on animation, modeling, texturing, shaders, and FX disciplines.
  • Identify visual or performance issues and implement high-quality technical solutions.
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of art pipelines and documentation.

Requirements

  • Must be based in Canada.
  • At least 2 years of experience with Unreal Engine as a Technical Artist.
  • Strong understanding of real-time content development and game art pipelines.
  • Technical proficiency in art disciplines like animation, modeling, or FX.
  • Experience developing production tools and workflows.
  • Programming or scripting experience in C++, C#, or Python.
  • Familiarity with DCC tools such as Maya and version control practices.

Nice to have

  • Understanding of shader development and material systems.
  • Experience with particle systems and real-time visual effects.
  • Knowledge of performance profiling and optimization.
  • Experience with Perforce (P4V) and Unreal Chaos destruction systems.
