Senior ETF Engineer (Fintech)

TL;DR

Senior ETF Engineer (Python/AWS): Designing, building, and supporting capabilities for the hirify.global ETF platform with an accent on portfolio construction, trading, and analytics. Focus on modernizing platform architectures, optimizing data pipelines, and implementing AI-accelerated engineering practices.

Location: London, UK (Hybrid - must spend at least four full days each week in the office)

What you will do

• Develop and maintain Python-based services, APIs, and microservices supporting portfolio analytics and optimization workflows.
• Design and optimize SQL-based data processing (PostgreSQL, SQL Server, Snowflake), including complex queries and large-scale ETL workflows.
• Build and operate cloud-native applications on AWS utilizing Lambda, S3, ECS/EKS, Step Functions, and Aurora.
• Implement distributed, event-driven architectures using Kafka for scalable platform execution.
• Institutionalize AI-accelerated engineering by integrating tools like GitHub Copilot, Claude, and ChatGPT into daily coding and prototyping.
• Collaborate with portfolio managers and quantitative researchers to translate investment requirements into scalable technical solutions.

Requirements

• Proven hands-on experience in software or data engineering, preferably within financial services or asset management.
• Strong proficiency in Python, SQL, and cloud-native development (AWS).
• Experience with CI/CD, DevOps practices, and automated testing.
• Fluency in AI-assisted development and the ability to evaluate AI-generated code for security and performance.
• Deep understanding of data engineering principles, including modeling, pipelines, validation, and lineage.
• Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Computer Science, or a similar advanced field.

Nice to have

• Exposure to portfolio analytics, risk models, or investment workflows.
• Professional certifications such as CFA, CPA, CIPM, CAIA, or FRM.
