What you will do

• Lead web performance across the Legend platform, profiling and shipping measurable improvements to speed and runtime efficiency.
• Optimize JavaScript internals and browser rendering pipelines (layout, paint, compositing) to eliminate jank and main-thread contention.
• Build high-frequency, real-time UI components that handle streaming market data while maintaining consistent frame rates.
• Establish performance benchmarks and monitoring systems to create a repeatable engineering standard.
• Drive a performance-first culture through technical documentation, engineering standards, and code reviews.
• Partner with product, design, and backend engineers to deliver polished trading experiences at scale.

Requirements

• 7+ years of experience building web applications where performance was a hard requirement.
• Deep expertise in JavaScript and TypeScript, including JS engine internals and memory management.
• Hands-on experience profiling browser rendering pipelines and diagnosing long tasks.
• Proven ability to build real-time UIs using Canvas, Web Workers, or WebSockets.
• Fluency with performance tooling: Chrome DevTools, Lighthouse, flame charts, and Core Web Vitals.
• Must be based in or able to work from the Menlo Park, CA or New York, NY offices.
