What you will do

• Coach, mentor, and train underwriters on guidelines, processes, and Encompass system usage.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for loan-level questions, instructions, and escalations.
• Monitor and review pipelines daily to ensure all loans are within SLA and maintain quality standards.
• Conduct spot reviews and analyze post-closing/credit risk findings to determine training needs.
• Manage load balancing and communicate priority reviews (VIP, Transition) to Production Coordinators.
• Interview prospective underwriters and handle administrative duties including timecards and PTO approvals.

Requirements

• Must be based in the USA
• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Required certifications: DE, SAR, and LAPP.
• 5+ years of Mortgage Underwriting experience (FHA, VA, and Conventional) with agency guideline knowledge.
• 5+ years of experience in an underwriting supervisory role.
• Proficiency with Encompass LOS and knowledge of ATR/QM and compliance requirements.

• Experience with USDA loans.
