TL;DR

Training Specialist (Disaster Recovery): Designing, developing, and delivering high-quality learning experiences for CDBG-DR fund recipients with an accent on disaster recovery programs and HUD compliance. Focus on building the capacity of state and local governments through virtual and in-person training and the creation of technical assistance products.

Location: Must be based in the continental US (candidates in Mountain or Pacific Time Zones or those willing to work after Eastern time zone hours preferred)

Salary: $74,090 - $125,954

What you will do

  • Design and deliver in-person and virtual training for CDBG-DR grantees covering housing, infrastructure, mitigation, and federal grant requirements.
  • Facilitate interactive learning sessions using group discussions, case studies, and role-playing to maximize knowledge retention.
  • Serve as a Subject Matter Expert for HUD disaster recovery programs, contributing to product development and technical assistance deliverables.
  • Develop high-quality training materials and customize content based on the specific needs and learning capacity of various audiences.
  • Ensure all developed materials are accurate, consistent, and in full compliance with federal regulations.
  • Provide direct guidance to grantees through a variety of learning environments and instructional formats.

Requirements

  • Must be located in the continental US.
  • Bachelor's degree in Education, Public Policy, Urban Planning, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum 8 years of experience working directly with CDBG-DR, HUD, or other relevant affordable housing programs.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in designing and delivering training and technical assistance (TTA) services using various platforms.
  • Excellent facilitation and presentation skills for both virtual and face-to-face classroom delivery.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally.

Nice to have

  • Master's Degree in a relevant field.
  • Experience working with multifamily developers or housing authorities.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of adult learning theory and instructional design.
