TL;DR

Technical Product Sales Specialist (Defence): Driving sales growth and upselling strategies within the Canadian Defence & Security sector with an accent on technical solution design and cross-functional collaboration. Focus on managing complex sales cycles, developing proposals, and aligning customer needs with advanced simulation and training technologies.

Location: Must be based in Ottawa, Canada (Hybrid work model). Eligibility to obtain Canadian Security Clearance and Controlled Goods Clearance is required.

Salary: $107,500–$157,500 CAD

What you will do

  • Analyze the Canadian Defence & Security sales landscape to identify and implement upselling strategies.
  • Lead and close sales opportunities in collaboration with multidisciplinary engineering and business strategy teams.
  • Develop Statements of Work (SOWs), technical solutions, cost estimates, and formal proposals.
  • Build and maintain internal networks to establish Integrated Project Teams (IPTs) for targeted opportunities.
  • Engage with clients to understand requirements and present value-driven technical solutions.
  • Report on sales engineering activities, priorities, and risks to senior management.

Requirements

  • University degree in Engineering, Applied Sciences, or related field.
  • 5–8 years of experience in technical sales or business development.
  • Eligibility to obtain Canadian Security Clearance and Controlled Goods Clearance.
  • Eligibility to work in Canada (Citizen, Permanent Resident, or valid Work Permit).
  • Fluency in English.
  • Experience with CRM systems like Salesforce and proposal development.

Nice to have

  • Bilingualism in English and French.
  • Experience in defence, aerospace, or government contracting.
  • Familiarity with integrated project team (IPT) structures.
  • Advanced negotiation and solution-based selling skills.
