What you will do
- Design, build, and operate the Horn of Africa On-Demand Production Hub from the ground up.
- Develop and execute a production strategy serving Somali, Afaan Oromo, Tigrinya, and Amharic services.
- Lead and mentor a multi-skilled team of video journalists and reporters.
- Oversee the production of high-impact video journalism, including investigations, documentaries, and social-first content.
- Create specific video formats and storytelling approaches to reach young women in the region and diaspora.
- Manage staffing, rotas, and resource allocation to ensure effective output.
Requirements
- Demonstrable video vision with a track record of engaging digital video content.
- Substantial experience in filming, editing, and motion graphics for journalism.
- Proven experience managing journalism or production teams and developing creative excellence.
- Strong understanding of YouTube, TikTok, and social media algorithms.
- Fluency in English and at least one Horn of Africa language (Somali, Afaan Oromo, Tigrinya, or Amharic).
- Must be based in or able to work from Nairobi, Kenya.
