TL;DR

Engineering Manager (Core Infra): Leading the platform team responsible for Snap's critical storage and caching infrastructure with an accent on scalability, high availability, and mission-critical system design. Focus on building infrastructure for large-scale data processing, mentoring engineering teams, and shaping the storage strategy for an AI-first world.

Location: Must be based in the US (Bellevue, Palo Alto, or Seattle) with a 4+ days per week in-office requirement.

What you will do

  • Manage and mentor a team of backend and full-stack developers in a fast-paced environment.
  • Build and operate infrastructure for large-scale distributed systems and data processing.
  • Define strategy, build roadmaps, and set measurable goals for the storage and caching platform.
  • Collaborate with Product, Data Science, and Engineering stakeholders to deliver critical infrastructure.
  • Evaluate technical tradeoffs and provide strong technical mentorship to the team.
  • Hire, grow, and retain high-performing engineering talent.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical field or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8+ years of software development experience (or 7+ years with a Master’s, 3+ years with a PhD).
  • 1+ year of experience managing a team of engineers.
  • Proven experience building large-scale distributed systems and big data pipelines.
  • Ability to lead and execute large, complex technical initiatives.
  • Must be able to work in the office 4+ days per week.

Nice to have

  • Experience with Hadoop, Hive, Trino, BigQuery, and Spark.
  • Track record of driving large-scale initiatives from ideation to completion.
  • Experience working in rapidly changing, multi-stakeholder environments.
