Principal Software Engineer (GCP)

TL;DR

Principal Software Engineer (GCP): Architecting and building large-scale analytical platforms for renewable energy operations with an accent on data-intensive workloads and system scalability. Focus on designing end-to-end systems, integrating agentic AI tools, and translating complex business requirements into robust technical solutions.

Location: Must be based in the US (St. Paul, MN or Juno Beach, FL preferred).

Compensation: $60/hr - $75/hr (W2) or $65 - $80/hr (C2C).

What you will do

• Translate complex energy industry problems into scalable technical solutions.
• Design and own end-to-end systems spanning backend services, data pipelines, and user interfaces.
• Lead architecture decisions and mentor engineering team members.
• Integrate and govern agentic AI tools into engineering workflows.
• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines with observability and production support readiness.
• Communicate technical direction to executive and business stakeholders.

Requirements

• 9+ years of software engineering experience with demonstrated architecture ownership.
• Must be authorized to work legally in the US without sponsorship.
• Hands-on GCP experience with BigQuery, Dataflow, or Dataproc.
• Proficiency working across the full stack including backend, data pipelines, and UI.
• Experience using AI-assisted development tools effectively.
• Ability to engage directly with non-technical stakeholders.
