Project Accountant (Finance)

TL;DR

Location: Hybrid (Newcastle upon Tyne, UK) — Minimum of one day onsite per week

What you will do

• Oversee all financial aspects of a project portfolio from initial bid submission to project closure.
• Track project invoicing, costs, and cashflow against budgets and report on variances.
• Apply revenue recognition methodology in strict accordance with IFRS15.
• Collaborate with Project Managers to maintain Estimates at Completion (EAC), margins, and risk registers.
• Prepare monthly project accounts and perform timely reconciliations of WIP and POA in the ERP system.
• Support sales and bid teams in preparing cost models and managing tender sign-off processes.

Requirements

• Professional qualification such as CIMA, ACA, or ACCA (or equivalent).
• Strong knowledge of finance, accounting, and budgeting principles.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically Advanced Excel.
• Experience working with ERP systems.
• Must be based in or able to commute to Newcastle upon Tyne for hybrid work.

Nice to have

• Experience with NetSuite ERP.
• Exposure to long-term contract accounting.
• Experience in competitive tendering.
• University degree.
