Quality Engineer - Off Shift (Automotive)

TL;DR

Quality Engineer - Off Shift (Automotive): Ensuring product quality and reducing warranty at a high-volume engine manufacturing facility with an accent on problem-solving, corrective actions, and plant quality systems. Focus on driving containment, maintaining BIQ 4 certification, and coordinating rework activities for identified spills.

Location: Onsite in Flint, Michigan. Must be able to work 3rd shift (10pm to 6am)

What you will do

• Drive problem-solving activities and maintain BIQ 4 certification for the plant.
• Develop Product Quality Standards and issue Quality Alerts as applicable.
• Support warranty reduction initiatives and the change management process.
• Coordinate engine quality holds, repairs, and containment activities for spills.
• Support APQP and supplier readiness activities, including PPAP.
• Collaborate with Engineering on PRTS issues and the issuance of temporary work orders.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent experience.
• 3+ years of experience working in a manufacturing environment.
• Ability to work 3rd shift (10pm to 6am), weekends, and overtime as needed.
• Experience with PFMEA, PRTS, SPC, GD&T, and Control Plans.
• No immigration sponsorship provided; must have valid permanent work authorization.
• Strong problem-solving capability and written/verbal communication skills.

Nice to have

• 5+ years of manufacturing experience.
• Knowledge of engine machining/assembly manufacturing.
• Familiarity with APQP, PPAP, and Red X or Six Sigma.
• Red X Apprentice or Journeyman Certification.
