What you will do

• Deliver the regulatory engagement strategy for Japan and manage the compliance program for payment services and money remittance.
• Lead license authorization processes, including applications, business plan updates, and managing information requests between the company and regulators.
• Act as a primary stakeholder interfacing with the FSA and other financial services regulators to manage requests and integrity risk reporting.
• Advise the business on regulatory change initiatives and the management of compliance risk associated with new laws.
• Develop and implement policies and processes within the first line of business to maintain regulatory risk obligations.
• Execute the Compliance Monitoring Program, conducting targeted and thematic reviews to ensure organizational maturity.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree and minimum of 6 years of compliance experience in a regulated financial institution, FinTech, or legal/consulting firm.
• Deep familiarity with financial regulatory laws and industry best practices in Japan and the broader Asia region.
• Experience developing or maintaining compliance programs, specifically regarding payments activity.
• Exposure to licensing processes, regulatory expansion, and RegTech solutions.
• Superior communication skills for explaining complex topics to regulators, executive leadership, and staff.
• Proficiency in working with data to support strategic decision-making.
