Software Engineer (Networking)

TL;DR

Software Engineer (Networking): Designing and optimizing the Data Plane layer of Software Defined Networking (SDN) for enterprise private cloud-based distributed architectures with an accent on high scalability and performance. Focus on developing SDN features, debugging complex system interactions, and optimizing forwarding planes using DPDK and eBGP.

Location: Hybrid (Expectation of 2 days per week from an HPE office)

What you will do

• Design and develop Data Plane features for SDN targeted at large enterprise customers.
• Debug and resolve software issues in highly scalable and performance-intensive deployments.
• Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to ensure seamless integration between configuration, control, and data paths.
• Optimize SDN performance within distributed, cloud-based software architectures.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.
• Strong systems programming background with proficiency in C/C++ and debugging.
• 4+ years of experience developing features and fixing bugs in the networking domain.
• Deep knowledge of L2 (EVPN, VLAN, VXLAN) and L3 (eBGP, iBGP, MP-BGP, MPLS) protocols.
• Experience with routing, Kernel, DPDK Forwarding Plane, and tunneling (MPLSoUDP, MPLSoGRE, VxLan).
• Experience with XMPP, NetConf and knowledge of EBPF.

Nice to have

• Experience deploying applications in Kubernetes environments.
• Familiarity with Cloud Architectures and Microservices.
• Knowledge of Design Thinking and DevOps practices.
