Fullstack Engineer (Autonomous Driving)

Focus on developing user-facing products, optimizing cloud backends, and integrating AI tools into the development lifecycle.

What you will do

• Build and evolve mission-critical commercialization tools and systems.
• Collaborate with Product, UX, and engineering teams across sites to develop user-facing products for external and internal use.
• Solve cross-cutting problems requiring collaboration between mobile apps, cloud backends, and the Waymo Driver.
• Partner with operations, product, legal, and policy teams to deliver business-critical infrastructure.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 5 years of experience in full stack development.
• Proficiency in back-end languages such as Java, Kotlin, Python, Go, or C++.
• Experience with front-end technologies including JavaScript or TypeScript, HTML, and CSS.
• Experience using AI tools for day-to-day development (e.g., Claude Code, Gemini CLI, Codex).

Nice to have

• Experience building data visualization and/or data management applications.
• Experience collaborating with UX and Interaction design.
• Experience with reliability monitoring, alerting, security, privacy practices, and integration testing.
• Strong communication skills with cross-functional stakeholders across multiple levels and sites.
