Staff Platform Data Engineer (AWS)

TL;DR

Staff Platform Data Engineer (AWS/Python): Building and maintaining the hirify.global Data Platform and Data Shop to serve thousands of global users with an accent on operational automation, self-service data ingestion, and ETL workflows. Focus on designing scalable core infrastructure using Kubernetes and Terraform, and integrating LLM-based agentic workflows.

Location: Hybrid (Lisbon, Portugal) - Two office days a week required

What you will do

• Implement latest AWS and big data technologies to expand the hirify.global Data Shop capabilities.
• Design and operate core infrastructure including Kubernetes workloads and reusable Terraform modules.
• Collaborate with BI Analysts and Data Scientists to architect solutions for ML and analytical use cases.
• Contribute to the Data Platform vision and set engineering standards for the wider team.
• Ensure high standards of data protection and integrity when handling sensitive customer data.

Requirements

• At least 6 years of professional data engineering experience, including a track record at senior or staff level.
• Deep expertise in Kubernetes, AWS services, and building Terraform modules from scratch.
• Experience with hybrid Data Lake and Data Warehouse architectures using ELT methodologies.
• Proficiency with analytical cloud data warehouses (Redshift, Snowflake), dbt, and Apache Airflow.
• Expert-level proficiency in Python and advanced SQL.
• Hands-on experience with AI coding assistants, LLMs, and RAG systems.

Nice to have

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, or a related field.
