Privacy Counsel (AI)

Location: Must be based in the United States (Remote or Hubs in San Francisco and New York)

Salary: $185,000 – $317,000 USD

What you will do

• Advise on global privacy laws including GDPR and CCPA/CPRA as they apply to products and data practices.
• Partner with Product and Engineering teams to assess legal risks for AI features, including the EU AI Act.
• Draft and negotiate data processing agreements, data-sharing agreements, and other commercial contracts.
• Perform privacy reviews and AI impact assessments for new and existing features.
• Develop and maintain privacy and AI governance policies and compliance programs.
• Monitor legislative developments to shape the company's legal strategy on privacy and AI.

Requirements

• J.D. and active license to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
• 4+ years of experience advising on privacy and data protection at a technology company or law firm.
• Deep knowledge of privacy frameworks such as GDPR and CCPA/CPRA.
• Experience advising on AI, machine learning, or other emerging technology governance.
• Ability to translate complex legal requirements into practical guidance for business and engineering teams.

Nice to have

• Privacy certifications such as CIPP/E or CIPP/US.
• Experience with AI ethics, algorithmic accountability, or responsible AI governance.
• Background in negotiating commercial agreements involving data licensing.
• Experience supporting trust and safety or platform policy initiatives.
