TL;DR

Legal Counsel (Gamedev): Managing corporate governance and commercial legal frameworks for a long-standing game studio with an accent on corporate compliance, commercial agreements, and regulatory matters. Focus on drafting partnerships/licensing contracts, administering incentive plans, and implementing legal AI technologies.

Location: Hybrid: Must be based in or willing to relocate to Cambridge, UK (minimum two days per week in office). Must have permanent right to work in the UK (no visa sponsorship available).

What you will do

  • Manage corporate governance activity across the hirify.global group to ensure compliance and scalability.
  • Administer the management incentive plan in coordination with the Chief People Officer.
  • Draft and negotiate commercial agreements for sponsorships, partnerships, licensing, and merchandising.
  • Support live events and commercial partnerships, including immigration and visa matters.
  • Provide legal advice on commercial and regulatory issues to various business teams.
  • Help shape the legal function through the responsible rollout of legal technology and AI tools.

Requirements

  • Qualified solicitor in England and Wales with a qualifying law degree or equivalent.
  • Demonstrable experience in corporate governance and commercial legal work for large UK companies.
  • Proven track record in drafting and negotiating technology, licensing, and partnership contracts.
  • Strong understanding of intellectual property rights and their commercial exploitation.
  • Working knowledge of UK and EU GDPR and global data protection regulations.
  • Permanent right to work in the UK; the company cannot provide visa sponsorship.

Nice to have

  • In-house experience in gaming, technology, entertainment, or dynamic consumer-facing sectors.
