What you will do
- Provide strategic leadership and oversight for the education portfolio, including Learning and Skills, Early Childhood Development, MHPSS, and Emergency Response.
- Lead the design, planning, and implementation of the education programme in collaboration with government bodies and development partners.
- Manage and lead a team of professional and support staff to deliver high-quality results and ensure efficient monitoring.
- Co-chair the Education Sector Working group in partnership with the Ministry of Education and Science and the Government of Finland.
- Integrate digitalization, innovation, and disability inclusion as cross-cutting themes across all education initiatives.
- Coordinate education activities across multiple field offices, including Lviv, Dnipro, Odesa, and Kharkiv.
Requirements
- Advanced university degree in education, economics, psychology, sociology, or a related technical field.
- Minimum 10 years of professional experience in education programme planning, management, or research at the international level.
- Fluency in English is required.
- Proven expertise in policy dialogue, education sector planning, and results-based management (RBM) approaches.
- Strong capacity to engage with international partners such as the Global Partnership for Education and Education in Emergency Clusters.
- Must be able to work onsite in Kyiv, Ukraine.
Nice to have
- Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, or Spanish) or a local language.
- Experience working in armed conflict settings and managing large-scale humanitarian and recovery portfolios.
- Experience negotiating and positioning with International Financial Institutions (IFIs).
- Previous experience within a UN system agency or organization.
