What you will do

• Lead the end-to-end migration of MySQL databases from 5.7 to 8.4.
• Analyze database schemas, queries, and compatibility risks to ensure system stability.
• Design Cloud SQL migration strategies to minimize business disruption.
• Optimize database performance by analyzing slow queries, indexing, and execution plans.
• Validate backup, recovery, replication, and failover processes for production readiness.
• Automate database operations using scripting and infrastructure tooling.

Requirements

• 5+ years of hands-on MySQL DBA experience in production environments.
• Proven experience with major MySQL version upgrades or large-scale database migrations.
• Deep expertise in MySQL internals, including indexing, partitioning, and replication.
• Proficiency in Linux/Unix and scripting skills in Bash or Python.
• Experience with managed cloud services like Cloud SQL or Amazon RDS.
• Must be based in Latin America.

Nice to have

• Understanding of Java application environments and JDBC.
• Familiarity with MySQL 8.4 specific features.
• Experience with infrastructure-as-code and database automation tools.
• Previous experience as a Tech Lead for database modernization.
