TL;DR

Legal Counsel, EU Employment Law (Platform Workers): Advising on employment law challenges related to platform work and worker classification across the EU with an accent on litigation strategy and regulatory compliance. Focus on managing classification risks, interpreting the EU Platform Workers Directive, and partnering with product teams to develop compliant delivery solutions.

Location: Budapest, Hungary. Must be based in or be able to relocate to one of the company's markets in the EU.

What you will do

  • Lead the global management of platform worker and rider classification risks, collaborating with international lawyers.
  • Monitor high-profile litigation and regulatory investigations to develop defense strategies with local counsel.
  • Partner with Product, Tech, and Operations teams to align the tech stack with legal standards for delivery solutions.
  • Support cross-functional teams in exploring new business models and strategic opportunities related to platform work.
  • Analyze legislative and regulatory developments and advise Public Policy teams at HQ and market levels.
  • Act as a subject-matter expert for senior management and stakeholders, including occasional international travel.

Requirements

  • Fully qualified employment lawyer in an EU jurisdiction.
  • At least 3 years of experience in a law firm with a strong background in litigation.
  • Deep expertise in platform work and hands-on experience with the EU Platform Workers Directive.
  • Full professional proficiency in English.
  • Fluency in at least one additional European language.
  • Willingness to be based in or relocate to one of the company's EU markets.
