TL;DR

Lead AI Software Engineer (Knowledge Graph): Developing and enhancing retrieval systems and agent capabilities using Knowledge Graphs and LLMs with an accent on Cypher query optimization and graph data modeling. Focus on integrating Neo4j-native tools, refactoring KG agents, and benchmarking retrieval performance.

Location: Remote (USA, Canada, Europe, or UK). Availability to work until 1:00 PM ET is required.

What you will do

• Develop and enhance retrieval of agent capabilities against refreshed Knowledge Graph (KG) data.
• Translate business and scientific use cases into optimized Cypher queries.
• Refactor KG agents to leverage vendor-provided MCP tooling and updated graph schemas.
• Integrate Neo4j-native query generation and retrieval technologies, including Text2Cypher frameworks.
• Design and execute performance evaluations comparing the refreshed KG and refactored agent against current baselines.
• Act as the technical liaison with Neo4j and data vendor support teams.

Requirements

• Strong Python software engineering experience.
• Experience building AI applications using LLMs, tool-calling, and agent frameworks.
• Working knowledge of Neo4j and Cypher query development.
• Experience evaluating and benchmarking retrieval, search, or agent-based systems.
• Experience with observability and tracing for agentic systems (e.g., Langfuse).
• Familiarity with Docker, GitLab CI/CD pipelines, and containerized application deployment.

Nice to have

• Production experience with Neo4j-native GenAI tooling (MCP Cypher Server, Text2Cypher).
• Knowledge of graph schema design and graph data modeling.
• Experience with Snowflake Cortex, AWS Bedrock, or AWS ECS/Fargate.
• Experience with biomedical or life sciences data.
• Neo4j SaaS/Aura environment and performance tuning experience.
