What you will do

• Lead the design and development of backend services and APIs using Python and the Pyramid framework on AWS.
• Architect and manage PostgreSQL schemas, queries, and performance optimizations for clinical-grade data.
• Build and maintain AWS infrastructure including Kubernetes (EKS), Lambda, and API Gateway.
• Define backend coding standards, API design patterns, security best practices, and testing strategies.
• Mentor and guide backend engineers to drive engineering excellence across the team.
• Facilitate communication with client stakeholders regarding project status and technical recommendations.

Requirements

• Must be based in Canada
• 6+ years of backend engineering experience, including 2+ years in a lead or tech lead role.
• Advanced proficiency in Python, SQL, and PostgreSQL (schema design, performance tuning).
• Strong experience with AWS services including Kubernetes (EKS) and Lambda.
• Solid understanding of SOLID principles, OOP, and clean architecture patterns.
• English proficiency required

Nice to have

• Experience with Pyramid web framework.
• Knowledge of clinical or healthcare data systems (HL7, FHIR, GxP).
• Familiarity with microservices and serverless architectural patterns.
• Experience with TypeScript and Snowflake.
