Salary: $6,949.92 - $9,992.50 CAD Monthly

What you will do
- Lead technical design, planning, scheduling, and production for exhibitions on site and at satellite locations, working with curators and artists to realize approved concepts.
- Develop technical ideas and solutions, create drawings/specifications, estimate costs, manage production teams during preparation/installation/maintenance, and resolve implementation issues.
- Oversee exhibition-related programming technical direction (e.g., conferences, lectures, concerts) and ensure quality, accessibility, and consistency of signage/labels/didactic materials.
- Manage exhibition and facility budgets, purchasing, and vendor/contractor negotiations in line with purchasing policies and project budgets.
- Manage gallery facility requirements: maintenance, repairs, environmental conditions, lighting, IT and security systems; ensure storage, safety, and handling of collections meet museum standards.
- Provide leadership and technical direction: recruit, train, supervise, and evaluate technicians and auxiliary staff; mentor students and support disaster planning and emergency response.
Requirements
- Master’s degree in a relevant discipline.
- Minimum five years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Working knowledge of the National Building Code of Canada and British Columbia Building Code.
- Ability to effectively use CAD software at an advanced level (e.g., SketchUp).
- Demonstrated experience managing museum facilities and the care/handling of museum collections.
- Valid B.C. driver’s licence required; ability to work flexible hours and travel occasionally.
Nice to have
- Extensive knowledge of contemporary art and art production/display processes.
- Professional experience in exhibition design and production, including conceptualizing, designing, planning, and scheduling contemporary art exhibitions/projects.
- Demonstrated experience managing computer networks.
- Managerial and project management experience, including tendering, selecting, and monitoring contracts and managing budgets.
