What you will do

  • Design and optimize lipid-based nanoparticle formulations to enhance stability and performance.
  • Develop strategies for externally triggerable drug release, specifically focusing on ultrasound responsiveness.
  • Conduct computational simulations using Coarse-Grained Molecular Dynamics (CGMD) to model nanoparticle properties.
  • Perform empirical validation of simulated properties using in vitro studies and tumor-on-chip platforms.
  • Collaborate with the SPARC consortium and industrial partners including Merck KGaA and Johnson & Johnson.

Requirements

  • MSc or equivalent in Chemical Engineering, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Physical Chemistry, Biomedical Engineering, Nanotechnology, or a related field.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to bridge computational simulations and experimental validation.
  • English proficiency required for academic communication, course participation, and thesis writing.
  • Must be based in or able to relocate to the Netherlands.

Nice to have

  • Experience in lipid-based nanoparticle formulations.
  • Experience with coarse-grained molecular dynamic simulations.
