GIS Software Developer (Aviation)

What you will do

• Ingest and transform raster and vector aeronautical data into PostGIS.
• Process raster information into vector data, such as creating iso lines for magnetic declination.
• Style vector data to create high-quality aviation maps and wind visualizations.
• Generate map tiles in slippy map format for web-based consumption.
• Deploy and optimize map delivery using Amazon Web Services (AWS) cloud infrastructure.
• Automate data update pipelines from source data through to the end applications.

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience in a GIS software developer role.
• Proficiency with Linux/Unix, Bash, Postgres/PostGIS, and Python (Numpy, Rasterio, GDAL).
• Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure.
• Knowledge of Mapbox Style Specification, Geospatial SQL, and QGIS.
• Experience with OpenStreetMap (OSM), Agile methodologies, and CI/CD workflows.
• Fluent in written and spoken English.

Nice to have

• Frontend skills: TypeScript, React, Leaflet.
• Backend skills: GraphQL, Node.js, Rust.
• Experience with Digital Elevation Models (DEM), 3D modeling, or GRIB files.
