Sr Cloud Engineer

What you will do

• Maintain relationships and monitor performance of IT vendors delivering outsourced services.
• Analyze actuals vs. budget/forecast across public clouds (AWS, Azure, GCP) to identify waste, optimization opportunities, and utilization rates.
• Extract and analyze large-scale cloud billing and usage datasets to support engineering and finance decision-making.
• Identify, implement, and maintain cloud price optimization initiatives with vendors, including Reserved Instances (RIs) and Monthly Savings Plans.
• Define and maintain AWS Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and monitor service level objectives.
• Build dashboards and alerts using Looker/Lightdash and Grafana to track metrics and flag significant changes for teams to address anomalies.

Requirements

• Master’s degree in Data Science, Data Analytics, or a related field.
• University-level coursework, research project, internship, or thesis in public cloud GCP BigQuery data analysis.
• University-level coursework, research project, internship, or thesis in cloud data machine learning modeling.
• University-level coursework, research project, internship, or thesis in cloud data visualization using Python and SQL.
• University-level coursework, research project, internship, or thesis in extracting and processing large-scale datasets using SQL and Python.
• University-level coursework, research project, internship, or thesis in configuring analytics platforms comparable to Looker to build dashboards and reports.
