TL;DR

Manager, Powertrain Manufacturing (Aerospace): Leading the Manufacturing Design Engineering team to scale production of high-voltage electric propulsion systems with an accent on equipment specification, design, and high-volume ramp-up. Focus on solving complex manufacturing problems, managing Capex lifecycles, and optimizing powertrain designs for high-yield production.

Salary: $152,100 - $190,100

What you will do

  • Lead, coach, and grow a high-performing Manufacturing Design Engineering (MDE) team, including headcount planning and career development.
  • Drive the strategy, budget, and execution for all powertrain manufacturing equipment to ensure capacity meets future demand.
  • Manage the equipment execution process from design specifications and RFQs through Factory/Site Acceptance Testing (FAT/SAT) and ramp.
  • Build strategic relationships with global equipment integrators and automation suppliers.
  • Collaborate with Manufacturing Engineering to integrate DFM insights back into product design for high-volume optimization.
  • Manage the cost center and provide data-driven status updates to the executive leadership team.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, Robotics Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 2+ years of experience directly managing a technical engineering team.
  • 5+ years in a highly automated, high-volume manufacturing environment (EV, Aerospace, or Semiconductor preferred).
  • Experience with budgeting, forecasting, and Capex planning.
  • Strong proficiency in structured problem-solving (Lean, Six Sigma, DMAIC, 8D) and statistical process control/GD&T.
  • Must be authorized to work in the US without sponsorship.

Nice to have

  • Experience with eMotor (inverters, rotors, stators, gearboxes) or Battery (module/pack assembly) manufacturing.
  • Hands-on experience with PLC platforms (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, Beckhoff) or Robotics (Fanuc, Kuka, ABB).
  • Familiarity with Electrical & Safety Standards such as NFPA79, NEC, UL508A, or OSHA.
