What you will do

  • Serve as the primary contact for environmental compliance permits, projects, and regulatory needs in assigned states.
  • Direct and manage requirements for waste management, spill prevention, stormwater management, and air quality.
  • Communicate and coordinate with federal, state, and local pollution control agencies.
  • Identify and mitigate environmental risks while tracking compliance data in the internal management system.
  • Provide oversight for environmental contractors and consultants to ensure efficient performance.
  • Respond to and mitigate hazardous material release incidents, including on-scene support for derailments.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in environmental science, engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Manager Role: 5-7 years of environmental experience in railroad, transportation, or heavy industry.
  • Senior Manager Role: 7-10 years of environmental experience in railroad, transportation, or heavy industry.
  • Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local environmental regulations (CWA, CAA, RCRA, etc.).
  • Must be able to work in-person and travel frequently, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Ability to pass a background investigation, medical evaluation, and hair drug test.
