Sr. Data Scientist (Cybersecurity)

TL;DR

Sr. Data Scientist (Cybersecurity/AI): Designing and deploying advanced AI systems for NGSIEM to analyze and prioritize security events with an accent on retrieval, ranking, and automated security reasoning. Focus on building agentic AI workflows, optimizing RAG architectures, and solving complex anomaly detection challenges at enterprise scale.

Location: Hybrid: Must be based in Sunnyvale, CA (2 days per week on-site)

Salary: $140,000 - $215,000 per year

What you will do

• Lead the architecture and technical strategy for large-scale retrieval, ranking, vector search, RAG, and anomaly detection systems.
• Drive innovation across LLMs, AI-powered discovery, and autonomous AI workflows to enable automated security reasoning.
• Own end-to-end AI/ML architecture, including data pipelines, feature engineering, model development, and monitoring.
• Define evaluation methodologies, experimentation strategies, and success metrics to assess product and business impact.
• Mentor junior scientists and influence organization-wide technical strategy and long-term AI roadmaps.

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience building and scaling large-scale AI/ML, search, and retrieval systems in the cybersecurity space.
• MS, PhD, or equivalent industry experience in Computer Science, Statistics, Physics, or a related quantitative discipline.
• Deep expertise in semantic retrieval, vector search, NLP/LLMs, RAG architectures, and agentic AI systems.
• Strong programming skills in Go, Python, and SQL.
• Proven track record of operating large-scale production systems with strict latency and scalability requirements.
• Proficiency in Anomaly Detection, MITRE entities, Detection Engineering, and Triage.

• Published research, patents, or open-source contributions in AI, ML, search, or cybersecurity.
• Experience leading technical strategy for AI platforms or AI-native product initiatives.
