What you will do
- Define mechanical and cooling infrastructure requirements and reference architectures for AI data center campuses.
- Develop design narratives, P&IDs, thermal capacity models, and CFD analysis.
- Evaluate high-density compute architectures, including direct-to-chip liquid cooling and CDU topology.
- Lead technical evaluation of equipment vendors, manufacturers, and commissioning agents.
- Drive factory and site acceptance testing (FAT/SAT) for critical mechanical equipment.
- Design and operate an R&D laboratory to validate new cooling equipment and GPU rack designs.
Requirements
- 10+ years of relevant experience in data center mechanical engineering or mission-critical facilities.
- Deep expertise in chilled water systems, cooling towers, CDUs, and liquid distribution.
- Experience producing technical design packages, sequence-of-operations, and hydraulic studies.
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Systems Engineering.
- Ability to work onsite in San Francisco, including labs and construction sites.
Nice to have
- Advanced degree in thermal sciences or fluid mechanics.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or Chartered Engineer status.
- Direct experience with hyperscale data centers or immersion cooling.
- Experience with BMS, SCADA, and digital twins.
