What you will do

• Lead design and architecture of impactful open source projects
• Code in Golang, Rust, Python, C/C++ or Typescript/React
• Collaborate proactively with a globally distributed team
• Mentor and advise colleagues in their career progression
• Display technical leadership within Canonical and open-source communities
• Debug issues and produce high-quality code and documentation

Requirements

• Must have excellent professional written and spoken English
• Ability to work remotely from any time zone
• Ability to travel twice a year for company events
• Exceptional academic track record or compelling alternative path
• Deep experience with at least one of Go, Rust, Python, or C
• Strong technical leadership and team motivation skills

Nice to have

• Experience with container technologies like LXD, Docker, Kubernetes
• Knowledge of highly concurrent, distributed systems and performance engineering
• Software security, build systems, public clouds, Debian/Ubuntu packaging
• Systems programming, scalable web services, quality and test engineering
• Web or Flutter front-end experience, REST and gRPC APIs, SQL and NoSQL
